Caption and evaluation practice

Fiery protest
As Colombian protesters filled the capital last week to revolt against the new taxing of small business, the aggravation of the police turned the the crowds violent. This Protester can be seen about to through a cocktail at riot control after the squad brutally began assaulting the crowed.

This Photo follows the rule of Depth due to the fact it has multiple layers of the same thing and people and objects in the foreground that balances the photo out.

This photo follows the rule of simplicity/background due to the man in the photo being the main subject and standing out from his background that is pretty simple and does not take away form the main subject.

This photo has a few rules in it that are not really just one as if the photographer added multiple rules in one shot however not complete. One of the first rule I notice is rule of thirds that is the group of horses on the bottom right corner. This rule is not complete due to one horse being on the bottom left corner alone unbalancing the photo. An other rule that seems more complete is the rule of lines/leading lines, witch are the small dirt roads that lead through the pasture for a distance witch catches the eyes of the viewer. I feel since both rules are not fully concentrated on just one rule so it is hard to be able to call the photo just one rule.

Touching people

1. What do you think about this project and photo essay?

2. What would you do if someone approached you with a camera and asked you to participate in a photo shoot and then asked you to touch a stranger?

3. Think of an unusual photo shoot similar to this one that you think would be fun to go and shoot.

4. Finally, tell me what you thought of the photography, did the photographer think about the rules of photography that you know about? What types of photos did he take?

Sports photagraphy continued

1. Watch any four of the Runner-up videos, and answer the following on your blog:
Name of photographer
- Carlos Delgado
General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- Stories
List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio -One problem that the judges found on Carlos Delgado's shoot is that he had a hard time staying on topic with his shoot. and other was the background of photos were very static many had large mergers with stuff sticking out of peoples head or the background was just to distracting.
List two things the judges like- The judges did not like much but they did note that  Carlo's pictures had a good story and with much work and motivation they can be very creative story.
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like? I felt the same as the judges his intentions for the story were good but it seems he did not take it as seriously as he could have .

2. Watch the winning portfolio critique (Dustin Snipes), and post the following:
What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it?
The judges noticed that Dustin's photos followed a good path,as in the story was not off topic. they also enjoyed that his photos were very close to the subjects. An example to this is were Dustin is shooting the rugby players or runners witch ever they are and he seems to be running with them and gets a full shot in detail of one of the runners falling.

What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses? What I see as Dustin's strengths are that he is very creative and is able to plan ahead of shooting even for a split second he seems to know what he is going to shoot and he is also able keep distracting backgrounds away, however this is were his weakness starts to come in is that with out photo editing programs like photoshop his photos could have very distracting backgrounds, as some of his photos may have to mutch editing. However Dustin is a very creative photoagrapher and he can go a long way.

3. Watch the contest recap video.

Briefly describe the process the judges went through in deciding the winner.
The judges looked at some rules of photoagraphy and seacherd more for photos with a story on it, they enjoyed if they could find expressions of people if a person was the main consentration.

Part 2- Individual Images

1. Describe one photo that you agree with the judges on. Explain why you and the judges do or do not like it. I agreed with the judges desicion the photo with the sumo wreseler in the category pictures of the year, due to it had good rules of photagraphy, it had leading lines and the womans facial expression made the photo even better because it helped explain the photo even more.

2. Describe one photo that you do NOT agree with the judges on. Explain why you think the judges are wrong  The photo I did not agree on with the photagraphers was the black and white photo with a basket ball team in the locker room getting ready for a game and one of the players is holding up a ball. They picked it as second place and in my opinion I did not see much rules of photagraphy in the photo, it was not as dynamic as the others and it beat the photo that got third place wich was the soccer player jumping int the air wich had good rules as in leading lines and frames and it had a good shot of the expression of the player
which made the photo stand out more.

Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan last year

In this photograph the photographer captures the devastation around the frantic survivors that are doing everything they possibly can to be rescued.

In tho photo you can barley tell that used to be a neighborhood in a Japanese town, sadly now the rescue workers look for the remains of the victims. The photographer captures this image by taking a large area view to enhance the view of devastation.

This photo caught my attention the most the photo makes you feel that someone's dreams have been broken by the devastation, everything they used to know is now just a photograph in the ruble. The photographer is able to create this image by capturing the photo while its damaged and covered in ruble compared to the victims of the earthquake.

Magazine covers part II and Indesing part II

The Magazine cover has evolved over time with the advances in technology there has been many that marked the start of a new era of Magazines.

Early magazine covers
The earliest magazines date back to the early 1700s  and are far different than the magazines we see today. Most of the Early Magazine covers only included a tittle and table of context. The early magazines were not to open to what was inside just by looking at the cover they put not many photos or indication on the cover of what was inside until the early 1800s were more art and indication was added to magazines.

The Poster cover
Poster covers are covers with photo graphs or drawings that need no words to describe the photo. The only things that are on the cover is the photo and the tittle of the magazine. In a poster the cover the image is not covered by the logo or is not covering it. Most of the covers have images that are over sized.

Pictures married to type

Pictures married to type covers are usually an image covering or being covered by the tittle of the magazine. These types of covers began to be seen with cover lines witch are captions on the side of the magazine witch call the viewer's attention more that the photo or tittle.

Choice sheets

For next year I would like to to be in Newspaper due to the fact that I personally like to be informed of what is going on in the world around us and our world is our school right now and to know what news is going on in it is great so if I can be one of those people that can spread the news it would be very nice to know that I am paying back.

Welcome Back

I liked this photo because it shows the tension in the photo and expresses how out of hand the protest have gotten that people have to risk there lives to avoid the dangerous protest.

This photo shows that tensions between the military, and the citizens in the nations there are in are not always bad and the citizens are more than happy for the protection they offer that is why this photo called my attention.

I liked this photo due to the fact that it shows how powerful storms can get and it shows a kinda scary feeling that it is headed to destroy the shoreline.
