Academic Shoot reflection

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you? Some of the challenges I encountered wile trying to get the photos is that I got multiple rules in one photo.


2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly. The technical aspects of photography I found my self thinking of the most is getting a clear non blurry photo. what I did to do this correctly is I made sure to get my image balanced and focused.


3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?
If I could do the assignment again I would make sure my subject was clear.
4. What things would you do the same? The things I would do the same is keep taking clear photos.


5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve? The rule that I would have the easiest time with is simplicity.


6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture? The rule that would be the most difficult to capture would be frame.


7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is? The rule that I am not totally clear on is balance and what I can do to figure out what this is, is go back to the rules and examples.

Parallax: Is an apparent displacement or difference in apparent position of an object viewed along two different lines of sight, and is measured by the angle or semi-angle of inclination.

Pentaprism: Is a five sided reflecting prism used to deviate a beam of light by 90 degrees.

pellicle mirror: Is an ultra thin, ultra lightweight semi transperant mirror employed in the light path of an optical instrument, spliting the light beam into two seperart beams, both of reduced light intensity.

Beam splitter: Is an optical device that splits a beam of light in two

Simplicity 

How well did you follow the rule? The rule was not followed correctly because there are people cut off creating a merger and is not showing complete simplicity on the subject. 
What is the subject (be very very specific)? The subject is the student working in the bottom right corner
Is it clear to people looking at your photos what the subject is? The subject is not the clearest due to the other people caught in the photo that serve a distraction
If you didn't follow the rule well, what could you have done differently?what I could have done differently is focus more on my main subject and single it out because the other subjects cause a distraction to the main subject.

Balance 

How well did you follow the rule? The rule was not fallowed correctly because the second row of computers seems cut of like if the rest of the row was cut off.
What is the subject (be very very specific)? The subject is the 2nd row of computers
Is it clear to people looking at your photos what the subject is? Yes the subject is clear to the viewer.
If you didn't follow the rule well, what could you have done differently? What I could have done to improve this photo is concentrate on the subject witch is the 2nd row only.

Rule of Thirds 

How well did you follow the rule? The rule was followed pretty well because it shows were the person walking is going to and and not were he has been.
What is the subject (be very very specific)? The subject is the person walking.
Is it clear to people looking at your photos what the subject is? The subject is clear to the viewer that it is the person walking.

If you didn't follow the rule well, what could you have done differently?  The rule could have been followed a bit closer as to showing the full person and more environment.

Framing 

How well did you follow the rule? The rule was followed well.
What is the subject (be very very specific)? The subject is the person with the back pack being framed by the arched walls.
Is it clear to people looking at your photos what the subject is? Yes the viewer can tell what the subject is.
If you didn't follow the rule well, what could you have done differently?Something that could have made the photo better is that the person with the back pack could have been more clear and closer to the frame.

Lines 

How well did you follow the rule? The rule was followed well
What is the subject (be very very specific)?  The subject is the orchestra students with there bows in the air or close to there person witch call attention to them because it runs down to them especially the boy with the blue shirt that says 21, the bow he is holding up leads attention to him.
Is it clear to people looking at your photos what the subject is? No the subject could be confusing to the viewer because the subjects were not singled out and concentrated.
If you didn't follow the rule well, what could you have done differently?Something that can make this photo follow the rule of lines is that the subjects can be concentrated more.

Merger    

How well did you follow the rule? The rule was followed well because people in the photo were cut off.
What is the subject (be very very specific)? The subject is the people who are cut off in the bottom left corner.
Is it clear to people looking at your photos what the subject is? Yes the subject is clear to the viewer that the people in the bottom left corner are cut off.
If you didn't follow the rule well, what could you have done differently?A thing that could have made this photo better is acutely avoiding the merger as in making sure to include all the people in the photo before I capture the photo.

Best story:This photo tells a story, a story of very kind hearted teens feeding the cold, and hungry people.

Action and Emotion:This photo shows a great amount of action and emotion due to that all the students are participation in the the action of the activity and are very excited and having a good time.

Fills the frame: The main thing that makes the photo interesting is that the viewer of the photo can not really tell what they are working on in the photo however even though you cant see there face their body posture shows that they are serious of there work and makes it a very interesting photo giving it mystery. The way the people in the photo are framed is by the dark background forcing the viewers attention on the main subject.

Great white and black photographers part 2

Lewis Hine was born in September 26, 1874 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Hine was American sociologist and photographer. In the early point of Hine's life his father past away in an accident motivating Hine to begin working to save up money for a college education. Hine studied sociology at the university of Chicago, Columbia, and New York. Furthermore Hine became a teacher in New York city at the Ethical culture school encouraging many students to study photography. By seeing how Photography motivated Hine began to make photography his career. In 1908 he became the photographer for the National child labor committee NCLC. Over the decade he documented the NCLC's efforts to end this very sad time. During and after world war II he documented the red cross. In 1930 he was hired to document the construction of the Empire state building in New York city. In order to get the best photographs he endured the same dangers the workers did 1000 feet above 5th avenue!. During the Great Deppression he worked with the Red Cross to document the the drought in Americas economy. Lewis Hine's photographs are some of the most known photograps of the era however Lewis Hine at the time died unappreciated manny people were not interested in his work past or present and he lost his house and applied for wellfare. Sadley Lewis Hine died at the age of 66 on November 3, 1940 at Dobbs Farry Hospital in Dobbs Farry New York after an opperation. His son Corydon donated His prints and negatives to the photo leage witch was dissmanted in 1951. After the dissmatel of The Photo Leage, the prints were offerd the the musseam of moddern art howerver they did not except them, fourtunateley the Gorge Eastman House in Rochester New York and his Photo's been some of the best known of that era giving insite in many immportant and historical events.

Post shoot reflection

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos of your first 3 prompts (Red, Metal, Grumpy?  The challenges I encountered while taking photos of my 3 prompts Red, Metal, Grumpy is that many of the photos I captured were an example of multipal details of the prompts in the same photo so it made it difficult to dicide what prompt the photo resembaled.


2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly. I foud my self thinking of focusing my photos a good amount of the time due to the fact that my partner and I were outside most of the time and the sun light was affecting the balance light in the photo and an other reason is that I photographed many objects and people from a far distance so I had to constantly focus the camera to make the photo clear.


3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography? If I could do the assignment again I would use the rules such as avoiding mergers to make sure that the viewers of my photo's know what the main object of my photo is.


4. What things would you do the same? A thing I would do the same is that I would continue avoiding mergers and giving the viewer the full exposer of the photo and noting that would distract the viewer of the main point of the photo.


5. Finally - go back and edit your blogs with the 3 photos (red, metal, grumpy), tell me what rules of composition (which you just learned about) did you end up actually achieving? Did you have any?  Yes I did accomplish achieving rules in my photos. I accomplished Framing, rule of thirds slimpicity.                                                                                                                                                                                                                           6. Are you interested in shooting those prompts again, why? Yes I am interested in shooting those promps agiain because now that I am aware of the rules I can take more accurate photos.

Balance:this photo is a perfact example of balance do to the fact that it balences out on both sides of the photo by giving a view of the police officers and the building, and other objects in the street
